Fury Road has had a great career up to now, winning seven times and collecting over £300,000 in prize money. The ten-year-old gelding won at Grade Two level over hurdles and won a Grade One over fences as a novice. However, his last win nearly eighteen months ago and he has since raced nine times without a victory. Fury Road tried the Grand National fences last year but only got as far as the second fence. The handicapper gave Fury Road a handicap mark of 152 when the weights were announced in February but the Gordon Elliott trained gelding is now rated wight pounds lower at 144 so is effectively eight pounds 'wrong' in the handicap. The suspicion must be that Fury Road’s best days are behind him and his three career runs in handicaps have returned of F00. He has been beaten at least thirty-five lengths in his five runs since falling in last year’s Grand National and he looks highly unlikely to improve on that recent record at Aintree this year.
