Irish horses filled first and third place in 2007 and the previous year Irish runners finised first, second and fourth.
Best Irish Grand National Hope
There are plenty of Irish Grand National hopes towards the head of the market.
Last years third, Slim Pickings looks to have a great chance of being Irelands Grand National winner for 2008. He looked like the winner last year but didnt fully last out the race, being beaten just two and a half lengths in the end.
A year on and Slim Pickings is likely to have more stamina as well as more experience.
The next best Grand National runner from Ireland could be Snowy Morning who finished runner up at the Cheltenham festival last year in the Royal and Sun Alliance Chase. He has plenty of stamina and could challenge Slim Pickings as the top Irish horse in this years national
Other Irish Grand National Contenders
There are, however, plenty of Irish contenders who could land this including Point Barrow who fell at the first last year.
Chelsea Harbour seems to have everything going for him but his Grand National odds are now very short.
