Grand National Aintree

How to find the winner of the Grand National Aintree

Do you want the Winner or a Run For Your Money?

When it comes to the Grand National Aintree, there are always two questions on my mind. What kind of horse is likely to give me a good run for my money? And, secondly, what kind of horse is likely to win?
You might think that's really the same question asked two different ways but you'd be wrong. In fact, the reasons why I'd shortlist a horse in answer to the first question are exactly the same reasons why I'd exclude them from a shortlist in answer to the second.
Confused? Okay then, what I'm trying to say is that I'd go for a proven Aintree specialist to give me a run for my money but I'd be looking for a new kid on the block as the most likely winner.

Aintree Course Form

There's no denying that horses that have previously won or run well in the Grand National Aintree have a pretty decent record of being placed.
The fact is that many Aintree Grand Nationals are won by horses trying this gruelling event for the very first time.

Importance of Age For Grand National Aintree Winners

That old enemy - age - is the other important factor in the equation. Apart from wins by Red Marauder (at 11yo) and Amberleigh House (at 12yo), results in the last ten years indicate a trend towards younger horses suggesting that the race now seems to favour runners who have scope for improvement rather than experienced older hands who haven't.

So if you want a run for your money then we should consider each way bets on those who ran well in the previous years Grand National Aintree. If you want the winner then consider those who are running in the race for the first time or who have run before but failed to complete the aintree grand national course.
Comply or Die won last years Grand National and although many people will tell you that only a horse of Red Rums stature could win back to back nationals, Comply Or Die won in an impressive manner and recorded a decent time in the Grand National. He looks a great bet to at least be placed again this year.
