Grand National Horses With Best Aintree Course Form
These are the runners for this years race which we think have the best aintree course form.

Walsh said the horse became too careful at the fences after his early mistake but a seasons more jumping experience could make all the difference and this horse could be challenging for the top spot in 2012.

Has already had two spins around the National fences in the last two runnings of the Aintree Foxhunters, unseating his rider in 2010 and running out a good winner in 2011. Relatively few miles on the clock for a horse who will be twelve come the Grand National. Could still be ahead of the handicapper and it will be interesting to see how he is campaigned in 2011/12.

Both horses could go well again in 2012 and look a good bet to complete the course for a fourth time.
Many Grand National winners have run over the course before winning the race, whether that has been in a previous grand national or in a race run over the grand national fences such as the Becher or the Topham.

How Important is Aintree Course Form
Many recent grand national runners have previously run over the grand national course either in a past grand national, the becher or the topham.

2004 Grand National runner up Clan Royal WON the Topham in 2003
2004 Amberleigh House won the Grand National after finishing second in the Becher Chase and finishing third in the 2003 Grand National
2003 Grand National winner Montys Pass finished 2nd in the Topham in 2002
2002 Grand National winner Bindaree finished 4th in the Topham in 2001
There are some obvious reasons why this is the case. If it is the long term plan for a horse to have a go at the aintree national, a trainer will want to give that horse some experience of the fences before spending some time aiming the horse at the big race. The becher and topham are often used.
The other reason is a good run in the becher or topham may cause a trainer to then plan a horse for a bid at the grand national.
