How To Find The Grand National Winner
|

2008 Aintree Grand National Preview by NedrabbHorse racing tipster Nedrabb shows you how to find the National winner!
Do you want the Winner or a Run For Your Money? When it comes to the Aintree Grand National, there are always two questions on my mind. What kind of horse is likely to give me a good run for my money? And, secondly, what kind of horse is likely to win? You might think that's really the same question asked two different ways but you'd be wrong. In fact, the reasons why I'd shortlist a horse in answer to the first question are exactly the same reasons why I'd exclude them from a shortlist in answer to the second. Confused? Okay then, what I'm trying to say is that I'd go for a proven Aintree specialist to give me a run for my money but I'd be looking for a new kid on the block as the most likely winner.
Aintree Course FormThere's no denying that horses that have previously won or run well in the Aintree Grand National have a pretty decent record of being placed.
The fact is that most Aintree Grand Nationals are won by horses trying this gruelling event for the very first time - I think I'm right in saying that Amberleigh House is the only winner in the last 20 years to have actually got round the course previously. So don't go looking for good performances in previous Grand Nationals - they're complete red herrings!
Importance of Age For Aintre Grand National WinnersThat old enemy - age - is the other important factor in the equation. Apart from wins by Red Marauder (at 11yo) and Amberleigh House (at 12yo), results in the last ten years indicate a trend towards younger horses suggesting that the race now seems to favour runners who have scope for improvement rather than experienced older hands who haven't.
Thanks to Nedrabb for sharing his thoughts on how to find the grand national winner.
