Ucello Conti Odds and Grand National Form 2019

14:28, 6 Feb 2019 Updated 14:41, 6 Feb 2019
Ucello Conti has yet to win for trainer Gordon Elliott, but he has placed in six high-class handicaps after making the switch to him three years ago. He's finished second twice in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park, fourth in the Becher Chase over the Grand National fences here and consecutive second's the last two years in the £97k Paddy Power handicap chase at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. The ten-year-old son of Martaline is a half-brother to double King George and multiple Grade One winner Silviniaco Conti so it is entirely possible Gordon Elliott’s horse can rate even higher. Ucello Conti was amongst the Grand National runners two years ago finishing sixth but would surely have finished a lot closer but for two very bad blunders at the 19th and 26th fences. He was also a little unlucky when stumbling and unseating his jockey at becher's on the second circuit in the Grand National last year. He returned this season with that excellent effort over Christmas at Leopardstown but couldn't complete the hat trick of placed efforts in the Thyestes when pulling up in January. An experienced Grand National horse representing a Grand National winning trainer who is having an exceptional 2018.
