Mon Mome Odds and Grand National Form

Caused one of the biggest shocks in the history of the Grand National when proving twelve lengths too strong for 2008 winner Comply Or Die last year at the amazing odds of 100/1. In hindsight it is incredible that a former runner-up in a Welsh National and winner of 57k handicap at Cheltenham was allowed to go off at such dismissive odds but, in truth, his form immediately before Aintree had been very disappointing. Mon Mome has been put up 7lb for his authoritative win at Aintree and Ventetia Williams' horse will have to give Comply Or Die 2lb in 2010 after receiving 6lb from him last season - David Pipe should like the sound of that! Mon Mome's performances this season,particularly when third in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, give plenty of encouragement to connections that he will give an excellent account of himself when attempting to defend his crown.
