Mon Mome Odds and Grand National Form
Caused one of the biggest shocks in the history of the Grand National when proving twelve lengths too strong for 2008 winner Comply Or Die last year at the amazing odds of 100/1.
In hindsight it is incredible that a former runner-up in a Welsh National and winner of 57k handicap at Cheltenham was allowed to go off at such dismissive odds but, in truth, his form immediately before Aintree had been very disappointing.
After his National victory he went on to finish third in the 2010 Gold Cup before falling in that season's Grand National. Was then off the track for nearly twenty months but has made a highly encouraging return in 2011/12 and looks very capable of playing a part in the 2012 National especially if the handicapper gives him a weight in line with his current mark which is actually under the rating he won off in 2010.
