  Winner of the valuable Skybet Chase at Southwell and the Racing Post Chase in 2007 but as both of those races were on very soft ground there had been major doubts about his ability to cope with the good ground in the National itself but he seemed to be going as well as any until falling at the 25th fence. He has performed with great credit in his prep races this season, notably finishing runner up to Over The Creek in a valuable handicap at Cheltenham and an eye-catching staying on fourth when defending his Racing Post Chase crown at Kempton. Will be without the services of regular pilot Andrew Thornton but many of the top jockeys will be queuing up to ride this one.
