Winner of the Scottish Grand National and Betfred Gold Cup in 2007 but off the course in 2008 due to injury. Believed to be back to 100% although was not at recent open day at Ferdy Murphys. The trainer has stated that Hot Weld will only have one run, possibly at the Cheltenham Festival, before contesting the 2009 Grand National as the horse is a much better horse at that time of year. With stamina assured (also won the 2006 NH Chase) he would be one of the more interesting runners if full fitness could be guaranteed.
