Grand National Trainers - Their Comments
Following the announcement of the weights in February 2009, many of the Grand National trainers shared their thoughts. These are the more positive ones.
Tom George (Kilbeggan Blade 9st 13lb): "That sounds about ideal to me. If a few at the top don't run it would put him in on about 10st 4lb and that is just about right.
"He's an improved horse and the National has been the plan for a long time.
"He'll have one more run over hurdles and then it will be Aintree, all being well.
"We just need to keep our fingers crossed that he gets in."

Keith Reveley (Rambling Minster 10st 1lb): "That sounds good enough to me and we would have a fighting chance of getting in off that.
"That would be a smashing weight so we'll see how things go between now and then and if he's in good form, we could give it a go.
"He's entered at Haydock at the weekend but that must be a bit doubtful but I'd like to give him another run or two before the National."

Grand National Trainers who Have Won Before!
The Grand National has proved to be a race where certain trainers have had continued success.
These trainers know what is required to win the Grand National. This could be their year all over again! We will pay special attention to their runners.
Martin Pipe's son David is now very much forging his own reputation and he has had multiple entries in the Grand National since taking over from his father.
Comply Or Die won the race for him in 2008 and even with a hefty rise in the weights last year he still managed to finish an excellent 2nd. Look out for him again in 2010.

With her success in 2009 Venetia Williams became the first lady to win the Grand National since Jenny Pitman in 1995. Williams will definitely try and bring
Mon Mome back in 2010 to be the first horse to defend his crown since Red Rum but is also likely to add at least a couple of other horses to her team for Aintree. Look out for her other horses as well.
