Best Bets To Enjoy The Grand National
Just as you sit down to enjoy the big race, you hear that your horse has fallen at the first fence! What an anti climax!
It makes sense to have a few bets to spread your risk around and give you a good interest until the end of the race. This is what to do...
Bet 1 - Your Win Bet
Only pays out if the horse wins but can pay handsomely. You want a horse with good stamina and not too much weight otherwise they could fade at the end of the race. Its very rare for a winner to be over 20/1 in price.

Bet on The Number of Finishers
With this bet you are sure to have an interest right up until the last horse has crossed the line.
Here you are betting on how many horses make it round the entire course and cross the finish line at the end of the race.
- 6 finished in '98 in heavy going
- 11-15 (incl) this bet would have won the last four times the going has been good
- 16-20 (incl) this bet would have won in 96,97,99, 2000 and last year
- 21-25 (incl) - there were 21 finishers in 2005
- 26 or over - unlikely as the highest number of finishers stands at 23
in 2008 we tipped 11-15 finishers and there were 15 finishers! This year we think that there will be around the same number of finishers again.
Bet On The Winning Distance
Another bet to guarantee that you will be on the edge of your seat at the end of the race.
Here you are betting how far the first horse home beats the second horse by. Measured in lengths of a horse!
The correct winning distance was 12 lengths in 2009 and we tipped that as a winner when suggesting backing the winning distance of 5 lengths or more!
A Forecast Bet
If picking the winner wasnt hard enough, picking the 1st and second in the correct order is that bit harder. However the payouts can be 100s if not 1000s of pounds so a small stake for fun can be worth ago.
Pick one of your each way bets to finish second to your win bet.
Ok we didnt get this one last year but we'll try our best for 2010!

A Tricast Bet
This is where you predict the first three in the correct order. You probably have slightly more chance of landing this than winning the national lottery! It could pay a lot of money.
Pick your each way bets to finish second and third to your win bet.
