Becher Chase Form

The Becher is run over 3m2f of the Grand National course in late November. Trainers aiming their horses at the Grand National sometimes use it to give them that useful experience of the unique fences.

Recent Grand National Runners who Ran in The Becher

In recent years the Becher chase has had more influence on the Grand National. It has only been run since 1992:

2004 Amberleigh House won the Grand National after finishing second in the Becher

Four horses have finished placed in the Grand National after being placed or having won the Becher. 2009 Becher Chase winner Black Apalachi finished a gallant second in the 2010 Grand National.

2011 Grand National Tips from The Becher

It looks as if the best tip from the Becher is to concentrate on any runners who finished in the first six and take their chance in the grand national 2011. Hello Bud led from pillar to post in the 2010 Becher Chase giving an exemplary round of jumping and understandably his price was immediately cut for the 2011 Grand National. The Nigel Twiston-Davies trained gelding has already finished fifth in the Grand National and punters must feel his performance in the Becher will push him to the forefront of the horses to be backing for Aintree this coming April.
