Vicente Odds and Grand National Form 2018

In recent seasons a win or a place in one of the other “Nationals” has proved a good indicator for success at Aintree with Rule The World, Auroras Encore and Mon Mome all fitting this criteria. Vicente won the Scottish Grand National last season as a novice and understandably his trainer, Paul Nicholls, has since aimed the horse at a possible follow-up at Aintree. Vicente has run four times this season without placing but the eight-year-old gelding appears to be a different horse in the Spring with four of his six wins coming between the end of March and the middle of May. The positive side of his lack of form so far this year means that he takes his place in the Grand National on a mark just 1lb higher than when he won the Scottish National last year. Three time Grand National winning owner, Trevor Hemmings, has recently purchased the horse and will be looking for a further Aintree success to go with those of Hedgehunter, Ballabriggs and Many Clouds.
