Simon Odds and Grand National Form
Has already turned in some great performances for his connections but they must wish that Valentines could be omitted in the National as he has come to grief at that fence on the second circuit on both his previous attempts at the race. It could be that he is a bit high in the handicap at the moment to be ultra competitive but he is sure to give punters a good run for their money. He would be even more interesting if there was a bit of cut in the ground on the day of the race but close your eyes at Valentines! Started the season with an eye-catching run in handicap chase at Cheltenham. He always needs his first run of the season but plugged on to finish fourth to Joe Lively - the handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds and, as a result, is not far off his old winning mark. Still capable of winning a big race but was a bit disappointing at Cheltenham in the William Hill Handicap
