Won the John Smiths Handicap Chase at last year's Aintree meeting, a race worth 34k to the winner. Had the likes of Bensalem and Great Endeavour behind that day on what turned out to be his last run for Howard Johnson.
Swapped to Willie Mullins following his former trainer's decision to give up training and is currently racing of only a five pound higher mark than when winning at Aintree so it appears that the handicapper has been quite lenient on the horse given the value of his last win.
Prince De Beauchene has always been highly thought of by connections and was even sent off as favourite for the 2010 Peter Marsh after just one race over fences in the UK.
There must be every chance that the switch to the Irish Champion Trainer could bring about further improvement from the nine-year-old gelding and another top handicap looks well within his grasp. However, connections have one eye on the 2012 Grand National and after an eye-catching to the track at Navan in January, Prince De Beauchene went on to take the Grade Two Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse in February. Bookmakers immediately reacted making him favourite for the 2012 Grand National.
