Palypso De Creek Odds and Grand National Form
Ran seventeen times in France before moving to Charlie Longsdon, winning once on the flat, twice over hurdles and twice over fences including a 74k Grade Three handicap at Auteuil. Faced very different conditions for his British debut over hurdles on good ground at Towcester but this did not stop him running out an easy winner.
The seven-year-old gelding was thrown in at the deep end for his next run and lined up in the Becher Chase at Aintree. He performed well there for one with such little British experience, finishing fourth to Vic Venturi, beaten just over ten lengths having looking likely to win at the second last but fading on the run-in.
Palypso De Creek has had one further run since then when finishing runner-up to Our Vic in the Peter Marsh at Haydock from six pounds out of the handicap.
Charlie Longsdon's horse looks an interesting addition to the NH ranks in the UK and could well win a big race in the near future but it would be difficult to be confident about his chance at Aintree given the way he seemed to fade in the Becher Chase. That could just have been unfamiliarity with British fencing etc but there would surely remain doubts about his ability to last out extreme distances until his stamina has been proven.
