Stable stalwart from the Nicholls team who has run in two Cheltenham Gold Cups and has won a Lexus Chase and two Punchestown Gold Cups.
Total career earnings have tipped over the three-quarters of a million pound mark for this popular grey who has made his name with exuberant jumping and an attacking style of running from the front.
Injury intervened at the peak of his career and Neptune Collonges had twenty months off the track after the 2009 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Things did not go to plan in his first two runs of the 10/11 season but a small field in the Argento Chase at Cheltenham allowed him to revert to dictating the pace and he jumped with his old flair holding off the late challenge of Tidal Bay.
The 2011/12 season has seen the gallant grey continue to run well in defeat most notable by just a quarter of a length in the Grand National Trial at Haydock where he just failed to reel in long-time leader Giles Cross.
The handicapper has saddled Neptune Collonges with a lot of weight in the 2012 Grand National but his extravagant jumping style would be a great sight to see.
