King Johns Castle Odds & Grand National Form
Finished a fine runner up to Comply or Die in the 2008 race and dispelled the thinking that he wouldn't have the stamina to get competitive in a Grand National as most of his form had been at distances under three miles. He was given the usual waiting ride that Paul Carberry prefers but as he will almost certainly have more weight to carry in 2009 its hard to see him getting any closer in that race but no doubt he will have his supporters again. He might even become the McCoy ride for 2009 which would undoubtedly see his already short odds come tumbling further. Was taken out of the betting for most of the year after an injury scare appeared to rule him out for the season but has apparently responded well to treatement and is back on course for the big race. Had a prep race for the National over hurdles at Naas in March.
