Gone To Lunch Odds and Grand National Form
Former Point to Pointer who moved on to running up a sequence in Novice Hurdles in late 2007 and then ran well in Grade One and Two Races after Xmas that year, including when finishing 5th behind Nenuphar Collonges in the Albert Bartlett.
Went over fences last season and had won three out of six of his novice chases before being thrown into handicap company in the Scottish National.
Covered himself with glory there finding only the much improved Hello Bud a half length too good. Then capped his season off with another excellent, if frustrating performance, when runner-up again in the Champion Novice Chase at Punchestown, this time only Dessie Hughes' Rare Bob stopped him from taking a major prize.
Consequently Gone To Lunch now finds himself on a similar mark over fences to that he managed over hurdles.
The handicapper has relented slightly this season dropping Gone To Lunch back down to his Scottish National mark after some under par performances on ground softer than he would like. Connections have sited the Scottish National as the ultimate target once again this year but it would not be a surprise to see a change in direction towards Aintree as Jeremy Scott's chaser would appear to have an excellent chance if he was give the green light to race at Aintree.
