Character Building Odds and Grand National Form
Was well backed for the 08 and 09 Grand Nationals only to be ruled out through injury on both occasions - at least his ante-post supporters got a run for their money at Aintree in 2010.
Has been called some rude names in the past as some people have doubted his resolution but seemed to answer all his critics with a victory in the 2009 Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival where he travelled extremely well and his amateur rider did a fine job of coaxing him home. Another part of the equation that day could well of been the first time tongue tie and it remains to be seen if that will be as effective in further efforts.
Character Building was purchased by the Thompsons (owners of Party Politics) just before the 2010 Grand National and they chose to put Nina Carberry in for the ride in the National.
Whilst Nina Carberry is a very fine jockey she wouldnt have the experience over fences that some of the professionals would have and it may just be that a horse with a bit of attitude such as this one would benefit from a rider with more experience. Nevertheless the connections have opted to stick with Nina Carberry for 2011 and her supporters can only hope she has the horse a bit nearer the pace this time.
