Casey Jones Odds and Grand National Form
Noel Meade trained son of Oscar who was kept busy in his first season over fences with eight outings and recording two victories, including the Grade One Knight Frank Novice Chase at Leopardstown. Defeated the likes of Trafford lad and Siegemaster in that race and that prompted Meade to head over to Cheltenham to the RSA Chase. Casey Jones ran a very strange race at Cheltenham getting well behind from four out and jockey Paul Carberry seemed to be easing the horse down to just canter home. However, a number of the runners in front tired dramatically coming home and Carberry spotted a chance for his horse to finish in the money and the horse stormed up the run-in only just missing out on fourth place.
In 09/10 he opened the season with a good win at Punchestown over a number of other possible Grand National candidates and then ran another odd race when seemingly held up in an impossible position in the Grade One at Leopardstown won by The Listener.
Still has an entry in the Cheltenham Gold Cup which may indicate the high regard the stable has for him and if he were to get a nice racing weight for the National would be very interesting indeed.
