Made a remarkable rise up the weights last season, beginning the year with a win at Southwell of 100 and three further successes saw his official rating rise to a mark of 142. He was especially impressive when recording his biggest success at Sandown in Jan 09 when hardly breaking sweat to see off Erics Charm by a very easy looking six lengths.
Plenty of stamina appears in his pedigree (Supreme Leader by a Deep Run mare) so could have a chance of seeing out the marathon trip, although appeared to run out of steam in the 4m National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham and did not look as though he was going to be involved in the finish when falling at the eighteenth fence in last year's National. Connections may point to the fact that the horse made a mistake at the first fence that day and may have not got into a rhythm after that but a recent hard-fought win over 2m 5furlongs does not appear to add any credence to the possibility of him seeing out 4m 4f at Aintree.
