Black Apalachi Odds and Grand National Form 2013
Black Apalachi has now had four outings around the Aintree fences and has recorded two incompletions, a victory in the 2008 Becher Chase and a fine runner-up spot in 2010 in the Grand National itself.
Carried 11 stone 6lbs when losing out by five lengths to Don't Push It in 2010 and whilst he has three pound less on his back in 2012 the Grand National handicapper has allocated to run from exactly the same marks as that run in 2010 so theoretically he must be up against it now as a thirteen-year-old.
Dessie Hughes’ charge did make an encouraging return to the track when second to Prince De Beauchene at Fairyhouse in February and will once again have the assistance of the revitalised Denis O’Regan, probably one of the best chase jockeys riding today.
