Always Right Odds and Grand National Form 2013
Former point-to-pointer and hunter chaser who has made a big impression since being switched to racing in handicaps.
Always Right's biggest win came in the 29k Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster last season where he appeared to be running out of gas on the run-in, only managing to hold on from a fast finishing Lothian Falcon by a head. This run caused some to question whether the nine-year-old son of Right Win would have enough stamina for his next intended engagement, the Scottish National. However, these fears proved unfounded as John Wade's gelding kept on well over the four miles and one furlong trip, finishing only one length behind winner Beshabar.
The 11/12 season started well with a win at Kelso but something seems to have been amiss in his next two runs with the gelding being pulled up on both occasions. Connections appear resolute in the determination to run in the Grand National and it is significant that Always Right came in for significant market support in recent weeks.
Horses from a true point-to-point background were part and parcel of the Grand National in the seventies with horses such as Grittar and Spartan Missile hitting the headlines but there hasn't been as many making it to Aintree from the point-to-point fields in recent years. Always Right is sure to be a big story if he makes the frame at Aintree and his performances before his last two runs suggest he must have every chance of being competitive.
